Spanish envoy turned-over 'BangKapayapaan' and livelihood project to 3 Eastern Samar towns

EASTERN SAMAR - Ambassador Luis Antonio Calvo, Spanish ambassador to the Philippines, together with Secretary Teresita Quintos Deles of the Office of the Presidential Advisor on Peace Process (OPAPP) were in Hernani town to led the turn-over ceremony of fishing boats and livelihood project for the three localities in the province, yesterday, November 11.

"First and foremost, I pay tribute to your Warays spirit that all of you to get over the catastrophe that hit this part of the country two years ago and allow you to bring back better lives, better folks and better homes. Be assured that we, the Spanish people, authorities will continue to be alongside with you in your efforts to reconstruct," Calvo said.

Through the Agencia Espanola Cooperacion International para el Desarrollo (AECID), in partnership with the OPAPP came up with the "BangKapayapaan" project as a Typhoon Yolanda response for the communities situated in the coastal areas. The beneficiaries are those whose main source of income is fishing. 
The project provided the fishermen of the municipalities of Gen. Macarthur, Llorente and Hernani with their own boat with engines and a set of nets that helped in the upliftment of their livelihoods.

On her part, Sec. Deles, who was celebrating her birthday on the event, pointed out that through this support, this livelihood may be sustained so that progress, development and peace can be fully achieved. Sa amin pagdating ngayon, ang ating paniniwala at ang ating intensyon sa patuloy na pagtutulungan sa pagtahak ng landas tungo sa kapayapaan at kaulanran na tunay na mararamdaman at pangmatagalan.

AECID supports the OPAPP in mainstreaming peace and development in local governance in the country through the Mainstreaming Peace and Development in Local Governance Project (MPDLGP).
