Armed men raids Balangkayan Police Station

Balangkayan, Eastern Samar – A group of armed men, suspected to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA) operating in the province, raided the Municipal Police Station of Balangkayan town on the eve of Monday, March 7, 2016. 

The Municipal Police Station, which yielded firearms to armed men Monday evening, is at the left side of this LGU Building.

The armed bandits were able to cart away four (4) m16 rifles and still undetermined number of short firearms. Civilians in the vicinity said that the group arrived at the station using two utility vans. 

Surprised and overpowered, the two police officers on duty were tied inside the station. The station is situated beside the Municipal Hall. No other police officer were seen in the area during and after the incident.

The utility vans then separated ways with one escaping using the farm-to-market road going to Balogo, an interior barangay of the municipality while the other used the national highway. No casualty and injury were reported. 

The 14th Infantry Batallion, based on Oras town, has already dispatched a team to conduct pursuit operations on the suspects.
