Catarman, N. Samar – A village across the Las Navas River (formerly Catubig River) will soon be connected to the poblacion of Las Navas after the provincial government of Northern Samar approved the P3 million hanging bridge as easy access to and from the said barangay.

Babellyn Lemonera, a resident of the village, said that they have to use small boat to buy goods from the town. “Makuri gad kun may-ada sayo nga emergency (It’s difficult when there is an emergency,” Lemonera lamented.
Gil Ong, the village chief, said that he is thankful the provincial government approved already their long-time request for an access bridge to their barangay. “Dako gud san amon pasalamat sa gobernador nga gintagan kami sini nga proyekto (We really thank the governor that he gave us this project), “Ong said.

Ong said that the project had been bid out already and initial civil works have already been started. “Dako na ini nga legasiya sa mga tawo san Lumala-og (This is already a legacy to the people of Lumala-og),” he continued. He is already on his final term as Barangay Chairperson and is running for municipal councilor this coming May 9 elections.
The village is also a recipient of a 2-classroom school building from the Payapa at Masaganang Pamanyanan (PAMANA). The building completes the room requirement for a full 6-grade elementary in the barangay.
