Wanted: Food Guardian!

Borongan City, Eastern Samar – With the battery of El Niño and other calamities which resulted in rice insufficiency, the National Food Authority (NFA) is seeking the help of at least 1 million volunteers to serve as Food Guardians who will ensure that every single grain of rice is not wasted, safe and accessible in the market.

Ruben Manatad, NFA Eastern Samar Provincial Manager, in a media release said that his office continues to promote the Food Guardian advocacy campaign which the office launched during its 43rd Anniversary.

“We would like to inform the public that the NFA continues to invite everyone to register and become one of the Food Guardian volunteers,” he stated.

Interested volunteers may register thru http://foodguardian.me/ or can sign-up at the provincial office. Volunteers are asked to sign on a pledge wall with photos or selfies holding a fan sign and uploaded in the official NFA facebook account.

Food Guardians serve as advocates to ensure that rice is not wasted. They are also urged to help in making sure that rice is available, accessible, affordable and visible in the market. They too should assist the public especially distributors on following the correct food handling procedures to make sure that rice is safe.
