Betty Martinez of NGCP said that they are just awaiting for the final schedules to carry the program to schools in Leyte and Samar. No specific schools or barangays had been identified yet in as far as the program is concerned.

In Visayas, the program was first implemented in Danao, Sogod, Carcar, San Fernando, Naga and Minglanilla in Cebu. Students in the said areas received sets of bag, notebooks and pencils.

NGCP will extend the assistance to more schools in other municipalities in Cebu Province, Bohol, Leyte , Samar as well as in Negros and Panay.

The program, now on its 6th year, is intended to help school children in communities, particularly elementary schools traversed by power transmission lines.

In Cebu, schools in Danao, Sogod, Carcar, San Fernando, Naga and Minglanilla received sets of bag, notebooks and pencils on June 2-3.

Safety reminders to the pupils, teachers and residents were also given at the beneficiary schools to promote safety consciousness.

NGCP reminds the children, residents, teachers and barangay officials on safety precautions with the lines during Balik Eskwela.

Residents are also asked to help watch NGCP lines to prevent the stealing of line parts, which is punishable under Republic Act 7832 or the Anti-Pilferage Law.
