In a discussion with local media today, Araral said that of the 138 individuals tagged on their watch list, 55 have already turned themselves in while 8 had been arrested since the onset of Philippine National Police’s Project TOKHANG (Toktok/Hangyo) or nationally implemented as Project Double Barrel.

The surrenderees include a former councillor, police officer, teacher, barangay chairman, tanod, mothers and a couple of minors. San Policarpo police reported 295 drug personalities from various barangays who voluntarily surrendered themselves to authorities since the operation began.

Four of the surrenderees are among the top 10 drug personalities watch listed in this municipality. Salcedo police station meanwhile reported that 20 individuals have turned themselves in for documentation.

Police Chief Inspector said that the local police’s operation is being supported wholly by Mayor Melchor Melgar. Borongan City police on the other hand placed the number of surrenderees at 104 coming from 18 barangays of the city.

“These are confessed drug users or pushers,” PSupt. Matthe Aseo said. Aseo is the city’s Chief of Police.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Samar Provincial Police Office (ESPPEO) reported that police stations are in close coordination with the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADAC) for a more effective implementation of the operations. (With reports from Daisy Belizar - DYES)
