Samar Day is holiday

Catbalogan City, Samar – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has declared August 11, 2016 as a special non-working holiday in commemoration of its establishment as an independent province.

By virtue of Proclamation No. 25, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, by authority of the president, declared the Samar Day as non-working day.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of Samar be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” Medialdea said.

The declaration, however, excludes the provinces of Eastern Samar and Northern Samar.

Government institutions in the two Samar provinces shall render their regular duties and functions on said date.
